Our Learning Environments

Hygge--- typical translation means 'Cosiness'.

Our indoor environment is inspired by the Danish concept Hygge (pronounced Hoogah) . We embrace cosiness, comfort and pleasure. Our homely feel is created using many household items, and the placement of soft furnishings and natural light alongside table lamps with fairy lights. Our nurturing staff create a warm and inviting atmosphere that creates calm and comfort for all emotional needs of the individual child. Textures fill the nursery on walls, display boards and are embedded into activities and furnishings. Snack times are very Hygge with all children sharing various food types, enjoying the company of each other and the adults around them.

Red Leaves
Our free flow garden

We provide a very broad and balanced range of learning experiences outdoors to suit all ages and stages of development. Sand and water play is always on offer as well as messy play activities. We ensure that free flow play into the garden is accessible in all weather conditions. Every activity room enables children to have independent access from their room into the garden.

Our outside classroom

We have an outside classroom that was built using natural wood materials to represent a Scandinavian type of open log cabin where children can learn in an environment that is calm and peaceful.

When the children spend time in the outside classroom they discover a new way of learning and their imaginations are fired from the sensory experiences around them in their natural world.

Our Forest school

Our forest school is led by two qualified Forest school leaders. The children are given a unique educational experience that offers children the opportunity to succeed and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a type of woodland environment.

Children engage in motivating and achievable tasks and activities throughout the year and in almost all weathers. Children will work with tools, play, learn boundaries of behaviour; both physical and social, grow in confidence, self-esteem and motivation whilst developing an understanding of the natural world.

All children aged 2 years and over have weekly forest school sessions led by our forest school leaders.
